Page Five and Six: Valley of Enchantment Elementary- Newsletter: Character COunts: As students grow and experience new challenges in life, the development of character traits is essential in helping them be successful. A key role of parenting is to work with their child to teach, model, and develop these critical character traits. Here are some essential foundational character traits to foster in your child: GRIT: Mental toughness and courage-When the going gets touch...stick to it! Encourage your child to challenge this adventurous spirit in positive ways. DRIVE: Energy and determination-Imagine the future! Have them dream big, set goals, and develop a plan for their success. OPTIMISM: A belief that food things will take place. Encourage children to start on a positive note. CURIOSITY: The desire to learn or know more about something. Wondering out loud can spark curiosity in children. Provide opportunities to explore or build on their interests. INTEGRITY: Honesty and fairness-Be a role model for an honest and trustworthy lifestyle. FLEXIBILITY: The ability and willingness to adapt to new or changing circumstances. When your student is faced with an unexpected challenge of circumstance, help them brainstorm alternatives.
