While the District's school buildings and grounds exist for the purpose of educating students within the District, the Board of Education recognizes that the buildings and grounds are a valuable community resource that should be made available to the community for specific uses that will not interfere with educational activities. Where such use of school facilities by community groups results in increased costs to maintain and operate the facilities, the district shall charge a reasonable fee to offset such costs.
The use of all school facilities shall be available without charge to the student body organizations. Privilege is extended to the scouts, youth recreational groups (Little League, Soccer, etc.), and other similar organizations and youth clubs, for meetings of public interest, but shall not be used as the established headquarters for such clubs or organizations. Access the Facilities Use Application.
School functions will take precedence over previously scheduled meetings of outside organizations. In such cases, the organizations will be so notified by the building principal upon receipt of a request that necessitates change. (EC 38133)
