4. Q) What is the difference between a high school diploma, the GED exam and the HiSET?
A) In adult education, earning a high school diploma, passing the GED (General Educational Development) exam, or passing the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) all signify that an individual has achieved a level of education equivalent to a traditional high school graduate. However, they differ in how that level of achievement is demonstrated. A high school diploma is earned by completing a set curriculum of courses and accumulating the required number of credits. The GED exam and HiSET are assessments that an individual can pass to demonstrate proficiency at a high school graduate level.
A GED and a high school diploma offer distinct paths to educational and career advancement; however, a high school diploma provides more opportunities for college and certain careers, while passing the GED or HiSET can be a quicker route to achieving high school equivalency.
Ultimately, the best choice between a GED and a high school diploma depends on individual circumstances, goals, and preferences. It's important to carefully weigh the pros and cons of each option and consider factors such as career aspirations, learning style, time constraints, and financial resources. At Rim Adult Ed, we dive deeply into every student’s individual aspirations during orientation and develop an educational plan that meets realistic expectations and respects your time and efforts here with us.
5. Q) What is the difference between the High School Diploma & the GED/HiSET Prep Course?
A) The High School Diploma course is designed for students to earn their high school diploma within two academic semesters.
