Special Education / Parent Advisory Board

The Rim of the World Unified School District’s Special Education Parent Advisory Board is composed of Rim District Staff, Rim District parents of special education students, and concerned community members. The Board meets three times a year.  Meetings are scheduled from 5:00 to 6:0 pm and are held at Rim of the World High School.  Parent University, where parents are given a presentation on a topic or assistance.

The broad goal of the PAB is to involve the District Superintendent, interested District parents/guardians  (parents), District students, District teachers, District staff, and other members of the District community in advising the District of the issues significant to District students with disabilities, including students who qualify for protections under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and students who qualify for protections under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The purpose of such advisement is to promote improvement in the District's special education and Section 504 programs and to foster greater communication among District parents and the District.

We hope that you will be interested in applying to join this Board or in joining us for these informative and important meetings. These meetings give the community an opportunity to voice its concerns with District programs as well as the ability to laud what it views as being exemplary in our programs.
