Page 2: From ROWUSD Superintendent, Dr. Paul Sevillano A Message from the Superintendent: Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community Members,
As we wrap up a remarkable school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate and express our gratitude to our many community partners and businesses whose generosity and collaboration have helped make a meaningful impact on student success across our district.
We have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated organizations throughout the year, including RIM Educational Foundation, RIM Family Services, Mountain Counseling & Training, Hearts & Lives, HAFDRA, Rotary Club, and many more. These partners have supported student well-being, mental health resources, enrichment activities, and academic achievement.
We also extend our appreciation to our Career & Technical Education employers and various local businesses and community-based organizations who provided invaluable opportunities for real-world learning, mentorship, and career readiness for our students. Your support has inspired and empowered the next generation of leaders, workers, and thinkers.
Thanks to the many local restaurants and eateries collaborating with our schools on fundraising efforts. Your contributions through spirit nights, benefit dinners, and other events enhance school programs, events, and classroom needs.
Your partnerships have helped shape a stronger, more connected educational environment. We recognize that student success is not achieved in isolation- it is a community effort, and we are thankful for every individual and organization that has chosen to stand with us in this mission.
As we look forward to the next school year, we remain committed to strengthening these relationships and expanding our network of partners who believe in and invest in our students' success.
Thank you for your continued support, generosity, and belief
in our students and schools.
Page 3: Dear ROWUSD Families, Staff, and Community Members, We are excited to share that Rim of the World Unified School District is moving forward with plans to offer new Adult Education opportunities that better serve the needs of our mountain community. Although these classes are not yet available, we are actively developing programs to support adult learners in continuing their education and achieving their personal and professional goals. We are currently preparing to introduce two foundational offerings at no cost to participants: English as a Second Language (ESL) for Spanish-speaking adults, and a High School Diploma-Based course. These classes will be held at Mountain High School and are intended to support adults who are ready to invest in their education. Additionally, we are exploring the future launch of a Pharmacy Technician Certification course, free of charge, to provide even more pathways for career development. As we plan the next steps, we want to hear from YOU! If you or someone you know may be interested in these opportunities, please take a few moments to complete our short interest survey. Your feedback will help guide the development of these programs and ensure they meet the needs of our community. Click here to take the survey:

Page 26: News & Fun Facts Did You Know? Origins of Graduation Ceremonies. Graduation ceremonies date back to the 12th century, when the first universities were formed in Europe. Schools like the University of Bologna, Italy (founded in 1088) & University of Paris required students to complete a series of lectures and exams before receiving a degree, which was a big deal even back then! “Graduation” comes from the Latin word ‘gradus', meaning step. Each graduation represents a step forward in learning and personal growth. Education is a JOURNEY, not just a DESTINATION. The cap & gown tradition began in the 13th century. Students & Teachers at the time wore long robes & hoods to keep warm in unheated medieval halls. Over time, this became symbolic of scholarly achievements. The tradition of turning the tassel from right to left represents the official graduation status. Congratulations!
